A Christmas signing video

A clip from the modern version of "Miracle on 34th Street" featuring Santa Claus doing some signing, including an ASL version of "Jingle Bells."

That was beautiful. What the Santa did is called "signed English" It is not very popular anymore. At one point they taught this in the deaf schools here in the US. I do not know about what other countries did or did not do with this, so I only will mentioned the US failure at signed English. It was very short lived. Even though some hearing people still learn signed English but only when the the instructor themselves are not very knowledgeable about Deaf culture.

I loved this clip though. Merry Christmas!
i am glad i am not the only one who caught the signed english! I liked it very much too.
I got the video link from Marlee Matlin on Twitter. She just said, "Watch this video and learn some signs for the holidays," and since I assume she uses ASL, I figured the video would also be ASL.
The little girl uses ASL. The Santa does not though.
It is good that they tried.
